What's up 2013? We didn't make much fuss about ball drops or anything, since we don't have TV at all these days. My personal tradition on New Year's Eve is to stay the heck off the roads.
I don't normally make resolutions. Folks, I hate to break it to you, but now is the absolute worst time to join a health club--do it mid-February when all the overambitious have given up or at least settled into a routine. Since discovering HAES I've given up on the idea of weight loss as a reasonable goal, but I do believe in healthier living. One thing that I learned back on my first round of therapy was to not "should" all over myself. Goals and plans can be useful; unachievable ideals, less so. So here are my list of goals for the coming year.
1. Continue to update this blog regularly. If not every weekday, at least 2-3 times per week on a set schedule.
2. Try to cook at home more often, or at least more consistently. I did really well with this before I started working. I need to figure out a way to get back into menu planning.
3. Try to take the kids on a stroller-walking outing at least 2 times per week. Zoo, mall, whatever, as long as I'm getting some enjoyable exercise. When it gets warmer, walk the park trails again.
4. Try to get someone to watch Sam at least once a month for a date night with Dan.
5. Make as many Project Linus blankets as possible. I decided to bite the bullet and order four one-pound bags of cheap mill-end acrylic yarn. Now to start hunting up patterns.
Well, I think that's ambitious enough. I'll be moving forward with the rest of the depression series and posting the results of my holiday efforts in the next couple of weeks. See you then.
